Description

ADBL Mr Sponge is a premium car wash sponge made from soft, durable foam, with two different sides. One side has a waffle texture and the other is smooth, so you can choose the feel that suits the panel and how you like to wash. It holds a large amount of water and wash solution, which keeps the paint lubricated as you work. That lubrication is what makes washing safe.

It works with a traditional bucket wash and with rinseless and waterless-style washes, where a well-soaked sponge does most of the work.

Why two sides

  • Waffle side: The textured surface gives a little more bite on road film and grime, and carries plenty of suds.
  • Smooth side: A flat, soft face for gentle passes on delicate or freshly corrected paint.

Suitable for

  • Contact washing with regular car shampoo
  • Rinseless washes
  • Paint, glass and painted trim

Wash sponge vs microfibre wash mitt
A microfibre mitt pulls dirt deep into its pile and away from the paint, which makes it a strong choice for very dirty cars. A sponge glides more evenly, holds more solution against the surface, and releases dirt quickly when rinsed. That makes it a favourite for rinseless washing and for maintenance washes on cars that are cleaned regularly. Plenty of detailers keep both and choose based on how dirty the car is.

Directions for Use

Pre-wash

  1. Rinse the vehicle or pre-wash it with snow foam to remove loose dirt before any contact. A sponge should never be the first thing to touch a heavily soiled car.

Wash
2. Fully soak the sponge in your wash solution and squeeze it a few times so it loads right through the foam.
3. Wash one panel at a time with light pressure and straight-line passes. Let the solution do the work.
4. Rinse the sponge in a separate rinse bucket after each panel, ideally one with a grit guard, then reload it with solution.

Rinseless washing
5. Soak the sponge in your rinseless solution and squeeze it over the panel to pre-soak it before wiping.
6. Wipe the panel gently, then dry it straight away with a clean microfibre drying towel.

Aftercare
7. Rinse the sponge thoroughly in clean water after use and squeeze out the excess.
8. Let it air dry away from direct sunlight before storing.

Best practice tips

  • Work from the top of the car down and leave the lower sills and bumpers until last. These areas carry the heaviest grit.
  • Use a separate sponge or mitt for wheels. Never use your paint sponge on them.
  • If you drop the sponge, rinse it thoroughly before it goes back on the paint. Grit picked up from the ground is the fastest way to scratch.
  • Use the smooth side on soft or freshly polished paint, and save the waffle side for grimier panels.
